Today's Reading John 1.1-28

King James Version with Web Encyclopedia links: John 1

John
John the beloved disciple wrote the Gospel of John, 1, 2, 3 John and Revelation. John portrayed Jesus as the Son of God. Starting from John 1:1 that Jesus is God to the 'I AM that I am' to 'I ams' of Jesus John urther information on John check the links below: Can you name the 'I ams' of Jesus?

John 1
The stumbling block for the Jews is when you say Jesus is God. There are three litmus tests to test what a person believes to see if he or she is a Christian. The first is Jesus is God, secondly Jesus rose from the dead and finally, you are saved by grace and not by works. Jesus is described as logos, the Word. Jesus is portrayed as the Son of God. Jesus IS God, He has no beginning and no end. John the Baptist came as the witness to the Messiah. how can God become a man that is a mystery which can only be taken by faith.

Jesus is a man
Bible verses that show Jesus is God

Verse 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. NKJV

Philippians 2.5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. NKJV

This is an awesome mystery that God becomes man. Let us thank God
Notice the conrast between light and darkness mentioned here and in 1 John 1. verse 12 is a promise for us 'Yet to all who received him to thise who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.'

John the Baptist was emphatic in denying that he was the Christ. He only acknowledged that he was the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.' He was just the forerunner. In verse 27 he said 'He is the
one who comes after me, the thongs of shose sandals I am not worthy to untie.'
We need to learn to be humble and be a servant like John the Baptist.
