2Kings 24
Jehoiakim became the next king of Judah, 2 Kings 23.36-24.6; 2Chronicles 36.5-8. He too did evil in the eyes of the Lord. It was then that King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon invaded Judah amd Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. Jehoiakim then rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. The Lord send several nations including Babylon against Jehoiakim. This was because of the sins of Manasseh.
Jehoiakchin became the next king of Judah, 2 Kings 24.8-17; 2Chronicles 36.9-10, he too did eveil in the eyes of the Lord. Nebuchadnezzar laid a seige against Jerusalem. Jehoiachin surrendered to the Babylonians. Nebuchadnezzar carried off all the officials, fighting men, intellectuals and craftsmen and artisans to Babylon, leaving the poorest in Judah. Among these were Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego.
Nebuchadnezzar made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah. Zedekiah became the last king of Judah (2Kings 24.18-20; 2Chronicles 36.11-16; Jeremiah 52.1-3). He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim did.

John 5.1-23
Jesus healed a man who was paralyzed for 38 years near the Sheep Gate, by a pool called Bethesda. He asked the man if he wanted to get well. Then Jesus gave him a command to test his faith, 'Get up! Pick uo your mat and walk." The man could stay where he was or get up.
We have life through the son John 5.16-23. A reassuring verse for us is verse 21-22: 21"For just as the Father raises the dead and (S)gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. 22"For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, (NASB)
Jesus has the authority to give us life or death. We can have eternal life or we can be judged by Him!! Let us take these words to heart.
