Today's reading 2Kings 1-3
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links: 2Kings 1; 2Kings 2; 2Kings 3
2Kings 1 Ahaziah fell through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. He sent messengers to consult with Baal-Zebub instaed of the living God. Elijah heard about this and met with Ahaziah's messengers and told them that Ahaziah would die. Ahaziah sent three companies of men on separate times to arrest Elijah, but each time fire from heaven would destroy them. The captain of the third company begged for his life. The angel told him to go with them to see Ahaziah. Elijah told Ahaziah because he went to consult with Baal-Zebub instead of God, he would die.
Let us make absolutely sure that the God we pray to and consult with is not a god or idol but the One and Only living God, the God of Jesus Christ.
2Kings 2 in Verse 1-18, Elijah was taken up to heaven in this chapter. Before he was taken up, his successor, Elisha asked him for a double portion of his spirit. Elijah said that was a difficult thing to grant but if Elisha saw him taken up his wish would be granted. In v.19-22, the water was purified (healed) through a miracle and Elisha was jeered by young men, and he called a curse on them and they were mauled.

Luke 24
On Sunday, Luke 24.1-10; Matthew 28.1-8; Mark 16.1-8; John 20.1-8 the women brought more spices they had prepared to put on Jesus’ body. When they got there the tomb was empty and they saw two angels. They said that He was risen. They remembered his words that he would be crucified and buried and risen on the third day, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women told the eleven apostles but they did not believe them! Peter, however, ran to the tomb and examine the strips of linen and he wondered to himself what happened. Isn’t amazing that Jesus told them repeatedly that he would rise from the dead and when it happened they did not believe him!
Luke 24:13-53
The two disciples unnamed were on the road to Emmaus, when they met Jesus. They walked and talked about the events of the week, yet they did not realize who He was until he broke bread, gave thanks and gave it to them. It said in verse 32 They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" Isn't that the way it is with us that we may have listened to a sermon, read the Bible, have quiet time but the Word did not speak to us until 'our eyes' were opened.
