King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links: 1Samuel 27; 1Samuel 28; 1Samuel 29

In 1Samuel 27 David was convincd that Saul would eventually kill him, He fled to the Achish of the Philstines again

In 1Samuel 28, Saul wanted to inquire of the Lord concerning the Philistines who were assembled to fight him. The Lord did not answer him by dreams, or Urim or the prophets. Saul got very desperate and got his servants to get him in touch with the Witch of Endor. This was against the law of God (Leviticus 19.26, 31; 20.6-8; Deuteronomy18-9-14). He saw this vision of Samuel,. who told him that he would die in battle. Witches and sorcerers

Luke 13.1-22, Commentaries, verse by verse

The basic message in this passage (Luke 13.1-8) is repent of perish. We ofthen asked the question why do innocent people have to die in an accident or from cancer or whatever calamity they face. Jesus gave examples as well but then He warned that unless we repent we too would perish.

Jesus told the parable of the fig tree that if it does not produce fruit, the tree should be cut down.

The synagogue ruler was indignant that Jesus healed a crippled woman on the Sabbath. Jesus rebuked the leader for being a hypocrite who look at the Sabbath as a rule rather than understand the meaning of the Sabbath.

What is in common between the mustard seed and the yeast? Both are small things. A a mustard seed grows up into a tree and a small amount of yeast in flour to makes dough. What Jesus was saying that we, as Christians, although we are small in the eyes of the world can do great things for God.
