1Chronicles 25 The Singers
From Matthew Henry Commentary:
The singers and musicians.
- David put those in order who were appointed to be singers and musicians in the temple. To prophesy, in this place, means praising God with great earnestness and devout affections, under the influences of the Holy Spirit. In raising these affections, poetry and music were employed. If the Spirit of God do not put life and fervour into our devotions, they will, however ordered, be a lifeless, worthless form.
1Chronicles 26 Gatekeepers
According to Matthew Henry Concise Commentary:
The porters and treasurers of the temple, had occasion for strength and valour to oppose those who wrongly attempted to enter the sanctuary, and to guard the sacred treasures

Today's Reading John 8.1-23
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia links: John 9
John 9.1-23
This chapter is centered around the blind man that Jesus healed. Jesus heals and touches each person individually. In this case, He made some mud with saliva, and put it on the man's eyes on the Sabbath. He told him to wash in the pool of Siloam. During this event He declared that 'While I am in the world, I am the light of the world (v. 5). The Pharisees invetigated the healing and question whether the healing was genuine and whether Jesus was who He said He was. The blind man gave credit to jesus despite the pressure from the Pharisees. He was adamant and said the facts speak for itself 'Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know. One thing I do know, I was blind but now I see.' (verse 25) The Pharisees ended up throwing him out of the synagogue. The man was not only healed from his physical blindness but He saw the Messiah! His spiritual eyes were opened. Jesus gave some sobering words: In verse 39, Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind." What about us have we seen the Light of the world or are we wandering in the dark like the Pharisees?
Figure: Jesus, the Light of the World.
