Deuteronomy 7-9; Mark 11.19-33

Deuteronomy 7 spoke about what do to when the Israelites get to Canaan. They were to drive the inhabitants out of the land. They should not intermarry with them and destroy their shrines and idols. In verse 7-8, God said that he chose the Israelites because they were the fewest of people and that He loved them! God gave the assurance that He would be with them to drive the nations out. All they had to do was to have faith in Him v. 21-26. What about us. These nations are a Bible type for sin. A type is a symbol or metaphor. What are we suppose to do with sin in our lives? We are supposed to drive them out. We must put sin to death (Gal 2.20).God is the one who gives us the victory.
Deuteronomy 8 spoke about not forgetting the Lord. The people were reminded to remember how the Lord led them into the desert for forty years, he provided them with manna, quail and water. He started the chapter with Be careful to follow every command.. In verse 6-10, Moses told them to observe the commands of the Lord... In verse 10-18, he reminded them not to forget the Lord. When things go well and we feel self-sufficient that is the time we forget the Lord.
Deuteronomy 9 God chose Israel not because of Israel's integrity and righteousness but because He loved Israel. He reminded them what happened how they provoked God in the worship of the golden calf, the grumblings at Taberah, Massah and Kibroth Hatavaah. he reminded of the unbelief in Kadesh Barnea how because of that only Caleb and Joshua was allowed into Canaan.

Mark 11:19-33 Commentaries, verse by verse

Before he arrived at the Temple, He was hungry and He saw a fig tree in leaf. He went to see if it had any fruit, but it did not bear any fruit. He said to the fig tree that no one would ever eat the fruit from it again. After the incident at the clearing of the Temple, Jesus and the disciples passed the fig tree, and saw it was withered. he tolde them to have faith in God. He gave the illustration of having faith they would be able to move mountains. he promised them that with praying in faith, they will receive what they asked for. This is the beginning of the passion week and there are many prophecies yet to be fulfilled and the challenges that Jesus faced in encounters with the Jewish leaders. Jesus had a righteous anger. he was angry but did not sin. What about us? What can we learn from this passage of scripture?
Mark 11.17-33 The Jewish leaders questioned Jesus' authority and who gave him the authority. He asked them whether John's baptism was from heaven or from men. They did now want to answer him because any answer they give would trap them. He said then he would not answer them. We do know that Jesus'authority is from God and He has all the authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. We should be comforted by that fact.
